The social determinants of health are the economic and social conditions that influence individual and group differences in health status. These factors include socioeconomic status, education, neighborhood and physical environment, employment, social support networks, and access to healthcare. However, not all of these factors are equally available to everyone. Many groups of individuals in the United States such as people of color, minorities, low socio-economic groups, senior citizens, and those with disabilities do not have access to adequate resources to get the care and services they need.
